New Heavy Duty 6×4 Truck with a Large Crane

Very expensive but much needed, this brand new heavy duty truck is going to be the workhorse of Kenya Wildlife Services. Used for everything from pulling large crates and flatbed trailers to lifting injured or sedated animals for transportation, this truck is fully equipped. The 18,000 lb capacity crane has a reach of almost 68 feet! We had previously provided KWS with a smaller truck with a crane in 2023.

Three Water Bowsers 4×6 15,000 Liter

These are the three brand new heavy duty trucks with custom 15,000 liter water tanks made of galvanized steel to delivery water to remote sites during the dry months. Water holes are filled with water from these trucks so that all animals can have a supply of fresh drinking water.

Toyota Landcruiser Converted Especially for Veterinary Use

This is the same as the converted Landcruiser for veterinary use we provided in the Hannibal 2 project. It is extremely useful for taking a veterinary team to remote sites quickly with all the refrigerated meds required to treat wounded animals quickly.

Mass Relocation Trailer and Crate

This is another custom made trailer with a fully enclosed crate (large container that can hold a small herd of animals). This crate will be padded on the inside and have fully ventilated sides so that small wildlife can be translocated to safer areas where poaching is less prevalent. This trailer is heavy duty and is equipped with strong outriggers. Sometimes small herds are translocated to safer areas where there is a better food source.

Isuzu FTS 34 Truck

A complete new bed, extending the chassis, and repositioning of an overhead crane on an older truck, making it more efficient and useful for lifting larger animals like rhinos and elephants.

162 HP Wheel Shovel/Loader with a Large Bucket

This brand new loader is used to clear brush and trees to get to injured animals. Often this is also used to pull the animals closer to a flat-bed truck for transportation to the closest veterinary treatment center.

Elephant Recovery Trailer (Supply and Install 4 Outriggers)

New heavy duty outriggers are being installed on the elephant trailer with crate that we provided in the Hannibal 2 project.

Mitsubishi/Fuso Upgrade

This is an upgrade to a truck we had previously provided. New outriggers are being installed, new grills, new bumpers, new dropside body.

The value of this project is KES 162,580,000 (162.5 million Kenya shillings or approximately US $1.26 million).

100% of the project funds came from Shiraz and Leili personally, through their Foundation.
